Connecting producers with scientists, activists and policymakers for more holistic food system change
Oxford Real Farming Conference (ORFC) is the unofficial gathering of the agroecological farming movement in the UK, including organic, regenerative and nature-friendly farming. It brings together practising farmers and growers with scientists and economists, activists and policymakers in a two-day event held every January every year. By working with local and global partners to build each year's conference, ORFC is a crucial point of connection for those working to transform our food and farming system in the UK and beyond.
Hester van Hensbergen, ORFC Programme Manager said the following upon joining:
“We are delighted to be joining Eating Better as a networking organisation to facilitate collaboration and communication between all those working to transform UK food and farming systems for a better and fairer future. Our vision is simple: good food for everyone, forever. Our networks provide the space and connections for the progressive ideas and actions that can bring that hope into reality.”
Advancing the welfare of animals in more than 50 countries
Humane Society International works around the globe to promote the human-animal bond, rescue and protect dogs and cats, improve farm animal welfare, protect wildlife, promote animal-free testing and research, respond to disasters and confront cruelty to animals in all its forms.
Claire Bass, Senior Director, Campaigns and Public Affairs said:
"Our mission as an animal protection organisation is to prevent the suffering of animals including on farms. A big part of our ethos is working in collaboration and partnerships, so we are delighted to join the Eating Better alliance, with its track record of uniting diverse players towards a common good. We look forward to working together with other members to help institutions increase and improve their plant-based offerings, and to convince policymakers to support a just transition to a healthier, more sustainable food system. "
Leveraging the global healthcare economy to catalyse social and economic change
Real Zero is a not-for-profit based in London and focused on preventing climate catastrophe by deploying solutions to the key drivers of carbon emissions – Our 7 Acts. Led by their CEO, Prof Hugh Montgomery, their work leverages the healthcare industry to effect change across global supply chains. One of their key programmes of work is developing a replicable value proposition for hospitals to adopt plant-based food provision across both NHS and private healthcare. Driven by partnerships with experts across healthcare, catering, supply chain, academia, our programme will improve population education and health, decarbonise the industry significantly and present excellent value for money.
Adrian Byrne, Director at Real Zero said:
“Real Zero are delighted to be joining a network of like-minded organisations who have the health of the population at the heart of what they do. We are of the belief that ‘what is good for the planet is good for you, and what is good for you is good for the planet”. We look forward to developing stronger relationships across the network to achieve common goals in creating a safe and just future.”
