Julia Kirby-Smith, Chair of the Board of Trustees, said:
"Eating Better is enormously grateful for Carol’s decade of service on the board, including several years as Chair. We are delighted that Compassion in World Farming will continue to be represented on the Board by Anthony Field, Head of Compassion UK, who brings a wealth of advocacy and campaigning experience to support our work. CIWF was a founding member of Eating Better and has been integral to the growth and success of the team and their work."
We are excited to welcome Anthony Field to the Board.
Anthony heads up Compassion in World Farming UK, leading a team of campaigning, media and policy experts. His role involves developing and implementing a UK strategy to end factory farming and transform our failing food system. Anthony is a highly experienced campaigner and advocate having led UK, European and International animal welfare and environmental campaigns for over 15 years.
On joining the board he said “I’m delighted to be joining the board of Eating Better at a critical time for our food system, which has a direct impact on animal welfare, human health, climate change and loss of nature. To create a fairer, sustainable system requires action from all the sectors in the food industry, including the Government and investors. Eating Better is well placed to convene a wealth of knowledge across these sectors to push for progressive change.”
Upon stepping down, Carol McKenna said:
“As I prepare to conclude my term as Trustee, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all my fellow Trustees past and present, to the brilliant staff team and to the wider Eating Better community for the privilege of serving the charity since 2015. It has been an exceptional experience, and I’m proud to have contributed to Eating Better’s growth and its mission to transform food systems towards eating less and better meat.
Among the many highlights, I’m especially proud of Eating Better’s collaborative work with alliance members to agree and launch the Better by Half Roadmap. This landmark initiative, setting out actions across sectors, provides a clear and ambitious path for driving the food system transformation we need to see. It’s a powerful foundation for Eating Better’s work in the years ahead.”
A big welcome to Anthony and we wish Carol all the best for the future!
